Our Mission Statement

The Mission of Leslie M. Stover Middle School in partnership with our community is to provide a safe and innovative environment that empowers students with knowledge and skills that will produce responsible, self-directed, lifelong learners who in turn will be productive citizens.

Principal's Message

Dear Stover Families:

Happy New Year! Welcome back to second sememster at Leslie M. Stover Middle School. I hope that all Stover families had a great holiday season.
We are proud to announce that Stover is again being considered as a "School to Watch" and will be visited January 20-21 by a state team of educators. Our selection is due to the outstanding students, teachers, and parents who work together in providing the best education possible with the resources provided.
Parents of students who are in danger of failing will be receiving a letter of notification and a request to meet with academic teachers.
Please continue to monitor your child's academic progress by checking assignments and communicating with teachers. Our goal is for all students to have a successful school year.

Go Tigers!

Dennis Reeder, Principal

Health Alert

As our school year continues it is important to remember to practice good hygiene and healthy habits to keep our staff and students feeling well. Swine flu and Seasonal flu are both still a growing concern, and we want to assure our parents and community that Stover is being proactive in preventing the spread of germs. Over 200 students and more than 40 staff members received the Swine flu vaccination on November 18; however we must continue to protect ourselves and others to remain well. Please click here to see a letter from DHEC commissioner Earl Hunter on ways parents can help in our efforts to keep our students healthy!

Stover Art Program Needs Community Volunteers!!

Mrs. Mickle, Our Stover art teacher, is launching a new project called I.M.P.A.C.T (an Inspirational Mentoring Partnership for Artistically Creative sTudents). This project has been established to recruit and organize parent help and support in the art room. The purpose is to encourage parents, guardians, retirees, and the great community to volunteer by assisting students with art projects or display talents and interests as they relate to art (teaching a one day lesson). Volunteers can greatly impact students by showing this partnership between school and community. For more information, please visit Mrs. Mickle's school website on eChalk or email her at cassandra.mickle@kcsdschools.net. Her contact number is 438-7414 ext. 2836(planning period 8:00-9:15). On her website, you will find an application that will need to be completed and mailed or attached in an email to her.

Also, the community is encouraged to visit our on-campus student art gallery. The gallery is located in the front office conference room and changes every nine weeks.

Parents,

Stover Middle School needs your General Mills Box tops!
Many popular products feature these pink and white box tops that can be clipped and brought into school by your child.
Each box top is worth .10 to our school! Last year, Stover earned $480.00 by mailing in box tops that students donated.
See Mrs. Larck in the Media Center and she can accept these box tops.

Stover: GREEN with Solar Panels!

Back in October 2008, Fairfield Electric Cooperative and Santee Cooper dedicated Stover as a Green Power Solar School. This program, designed to generate interest among students in renewable energy, provided Stover with one 10' X 12' solar panel, offering students hands-on learning and demonstrations of solar energy and encouraging discussions on the opportunities and challenges of this energy source. The program is supplemented by a curriculum which meets SC science standards and an Internet-based monitoring system that provides real-time access to information on the energy output at Stover as well as the performance of other solar schools in SC. Thank you Santee Cooper and Fairfield Electric for supporting our students with this incredible learning opportunity!

Please visit the following site link for more information!

We would like to thank the following churches and businesses for their generous donations this year. Their support has been a big help to our Stover students and their families during these hard times.
